Future Oddities are little gifts.
Gift giving is a part of my practice and something I do outside of it too.
Browsing oddities markets and shops, you find things that lost their function or had a fleeting purpose. I like to think of Future Oddities like that, but looking into the future. Like, “Wow, look at this that exists from the future, what is that world like?”
They are also like samplers of my art. Designed like little sensory hors d’Oeuvres!

The other thing is, they support my art practice. Sometimes, they help me work out a concept or just get a funny idea out that might not fit into what I’m working on. In another way, they help me build confidence in techniques, practice and ideas. I am future-minded. I like thinking about the future because we tend not to categorize it like that past. It feels smoothers in the way we say that we are future ancestors.
Art making is a funny, confusing, convoluted process. I start out with a clear idea and a plan, but then I get to making and my hands and body have something to say about it. So, sometimes the past shows up where I didn’t intend it to. I just leave it there.
